Day 1: Arrive Los Angeles
Arrive at Los Angeles International Airport and pick up your
rental car to drive to your hotel. The evening is free to
explore the city's various neighbourhoods.

Day 2: Los Angeles - Palm Springs (147 miles)
Collect your self-drive kit from our local representative this
morning, and head inland to the desert resort of Palm
Springs, a great place for shopping, playing golf or relaxing
by the pool. Take a tram ride to the 8,516 feet high summit
of Mount San Jacinto or hike through the Indian Canyons
with their waterfalls and palm trees.

Days 3 & 4: Palm Springs - Scottsdale (267 miles)
On the way to the Phoenix area, visit the amazing Joshua
Tree National Park, with its distinctive plant life, cactus
gardens and rock formations. Spend 2 relaxing days in
Scottsdale, and enjoy its large selection of art galleries,
restaurants and shopping opportunities; or use it as a base
from which to explore Southern Arizona.

Day 5: Scottsdale - Flagstaff (150 miles)
Head north to the breathtaking red rock country around
the new age resort of Sedona, visiting the ancient Native
American settlement of Montezuma's Castle along the way.
Tonight is in the laid-back college town of Flagstaff, an
important stop on the former Route 66, whose historic
downtown hosts a lively nightlife scene.

Day 6: Flagstaff - Grand Canyon (90 miles)
It's only a short drive today, so you'll have ample time to
experience the Grand Canyon from many different
perspectives. Enjoy the viewing platforms along the South
Rim, learn from the park rangers at the visitor centre, or
for the ultimate experience, pre-book one of our
helicopter excursions for a bird's eye view.

Day 7: Grand Canyon - Las Vegas (274 miles)
Drive west to the dazzling lights of Las Vegas, passing over
the Hoover Dam en route. Enjoy a fun-filled evening in the
original 'Sin City' of entertainment!

Day 8: Las Vegas - Death Valley (139 miles)
Leaving from Las Vegas, descend into the striking beauty of
Death Valley, to spend the night in one of the hottest places
on the planet, where the thermometer regularly exceeds
120ºF. The saltwater pool of Badwater, at 282 feet below
sea level, is the second lowest point on Earth.
Overnight: Furnace Creek Ranch

Day 9: Death Valley - Yosemite (326 miles)
Depending on the season, drive via the stunning Tioga Pass
(summer only, normally open mid-Jun to mid-Oct) or
through California's agricultural Central Valley, to arrive in
Yosemite National Park. Admire the waterfalls and giant
granite rock formations in Yosemite Valley.

Days 10 & 11: Yosemite - San Francisco (195
miles)
Spend 2 nights in San Francisco, one of the most beautifully
situated cities in the USA, with time at leisure to explore
Fisherman's Wharf and Chinatown, or take a boat trip to
Alcatraz. Don't miss the chance to drive over the Golden
Gate Bridge, for great skyline views.

Day 12: San Francisco - San Luis Obispo (230
miles)
You have a relaxing 3 days ahead to make the journey to
Los Angeles, plenty of time to discover California's beautiful
Pacific coastline at your own pace. Today's highlights include
Monterey with its impressive aquarium; scenic 17-Mile
Drive around the Monterey Peninsula; and the charming
seaside celebrity hang-out of Carmel.

Day 13: San Luis Obispo - Ventura (130 miles)
Follow legendary Highway 1 down the coast, perhaps
stopping in San Simeon to view the remarkable art
treasures of Hearst Castle, one of the most extravagant
private homes in the world. Enjoy a browse round the
Mediterranean-influenced resort of Santa Barbara before
an overnight stay in Ventura.

Day 14: Ventura - Los Angeles (70 miles)
Drive through the coastal towns of Malibu and Santa
Monica to arrive back in Los Angeles, where there's time to
explore Hollywood and stylish Beverly Hills, or perhaps to
spend the day in Universal Studios.

Day 15: Los Angeles Departure
Your tour concludes today with check-out from your hotel.
Return your rental car by the same time you picked it up
