Marlborough Wine & Sounds Self-Drive

4 Days Blenheim to Blenheim from £188

Day 1: Blenheim
On arrival in Blenheim, the hub of Marlborough's wine area, collect your hire car and head for your chosen hotel. With row upon row of changing colours throughout the seasons you'll know you've arrived in the heartland of Sauvignon Blanc. Remember this is also the sunniest place in New Zealand and a great base from which to explore. For further information on the hotels please see the adjacent page.

Day 2: Full day tour
Today you can sit back and relax as a full-day tour ensures you see the most important icons of the Marlborough region. Visit two of the local wineries to sample some award-winning wines, then for lunch head right to the waterfont at the Slip Inn Café (own cost). In the afternoon embark on the Greenshell Mussel Cruise through the Marlborough Sounds. Taste freshly steamed mussels accompanied by a complimentary glass of local Sauvignon Blanc. Later enjoy a short bush walk before being transferred back to your hotel.

Day 3: Blenheim
Today is yours to do as much or as little as you like. Perhaps jump in the car and explore the rest of the boutique wineries? There are also many craft studios in the area as well as an array of culinary secrets just waiting to be discovered.

Day 4: Depart Blenheim
Today is at leisure, before you depart. Your hire car is booked until tomorrow but must be returned no later than the time it was picked up on day one.
