Martinborough Wine Village has become one of New Zealand’s best food and wine destinations. Located just one hour's drive from Wellington, the village is a favourite weekend destination for those who feel a need to escape the city and discover a relaxed, country ambience.
Established in 1882, the Peppers Martinborough has a sense of history and place that will charm you as soon as you arrive. It is situated on a leafy square in the heart of the village, and is unique in that it has 30 boutique wineries all within walking distance. There are sixteen individually designed rooms that open out onto a private veranda or the flower-filled courtyard. All have comfortable beds with fine quality linen, luxurious fabrics and plump armchairs – in other words, the utmost in comfort. Each suite has a spacious bathroom with a deep claw-footed bathtub or shower. For dining there is the popular Martinborough Bar and Bistro, overlooking the picturesque village square, it is a relaxed and informal setting for enjoying local cuisine to match the local award-winning wines.
