Day 1: Arrive Auckland
You will be met and transferred to your centrally located hotel. Enjoy the rest of today at leisure in Auckland, the ‘City of Sails’.

Day 2: Auckland - Bay of Islands
Start the day with a visit to the Matakohe Pioneer Museum, home to the world’s largest collection of Kauri gum. Continue to the Waipoua Kauri Forest Reserve, home of the giant Kauri tree ‘Tane Mahuta’. Then travel to the Bay of Islands National Maritime Park for a guided visit of the Waitangi Reserve. (BD)

Day 3: Bay of Islands
Enjoy a day at leisure in the Bay of Islands. Not only is the Bay of Islands the birthplace of the nation and thus full of New Zealand history, it is also home to 144 islands. (B)

Day 4: Bay of Islands - Auckland
Explore New Zealand’s finest National Maritime Park on a catamaran cruise to Cape Brett and the famous ‘Hole in the Rock’. Sail through game-fishing waters to view the Cape Brett lighthouse then make passage through the ‘Hole’ (sea conditions permitting). Return this afternoon to Auckland. Day 5: Auckland - Waitomo - Rotorua Hangi (feast)
Travel south from Auckland through the Waikato Province to Waitomo Caves. Experience the underground limestone caverns lit by thousands of tiny glow-worms with an expert guide. Rotorua is reached by afternoon and the night includes the Maori Hangi (feast) and cultural performance of traditional dance and song. (BFD)

Day 6: Rotorua
Today experience the attractions of Rotorua which include Te Puia Thermal Reserve, the Agrodome and a guided tour of the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute. (B)

Day 7: Rotorua - Taupo - Napier
Depart Rotorua this morning and travel via Wairakei Park and the mighty Huka Falls then on to Lake Taupo. Continue to Napier to enjoy a tour of one of the region’s most established wineries, Church Road. Get to know Napier with a city sights tour before a guided Art Deco walk. (BD)

Day 8: Nelson - Wellington
Depart Napier, travelling south via Hastings, and cross to the west coast of the North Island. Follow the Kapiti Coast to Wellington. This afternoon enjoy a brief city sightseeing tour, including Parliament Buildings. (BD)

Day 9: Wellington – Picton
This morning enjoy a visit to Te Papa – the National Museum of New Zealand, then take an afternoon cruise across Cook Strait to the South Island. Sail through scenic Wellington Harbour, across Cook Strait and through the breathtaking natural beauty of Marlborough and Queen Charlotte Sounds to the sunny seaside port of Picton. (BD)

Day 10: Picton – Christchurch
Journey between the Pacific Ocean and rugged Kaikoura Ranges, to Christchurch. On arrival enjoy a city sightseeing tour then the afternoon is at your leisure for exploring. (BD)

Day 11: TranzAlpine Train - Greymouth
This morning board the award-winning TranzAlpine train. Cross the vast patchwork farmlands of the Canterbury Plains before climbing up into the Main Divide. Enjoy stunning scenery as you journey through spectacular gorges, river valleys and across the magnificent Southern Alps. Disembark on the west coast at Greymouth. (BD)

Day 12: Greymouth - Franz Josef - Haast
This morning journey to Hokitika and continue along dramatic coastline through dense rainforest to World Heritage Westland National Park. Enjoy the grand west coast scenery, passing by mountains and glaciers. (BD)

Day 13: Haast - Queenstown
Cross the snow-capped Southern Alps and through Haast Pass. Trace the beautiful shorelines of Lakes Wanaka and Hawea to the action-packed alpine resort of Queenstown. This evening, enjoy a cruise across Lake Wakatipu on the TSS Earnslaw to Walter Peak Sheep Station to enjoy a candlelit dinner at the Colonel’s homestead. (BFD)

Day 14: Queenstown
Today is free for you to explore the endless scenic attractions available. (B)

Day 15: Queenstown - Milford Sound
Today we follow the Remarkables mountain range to Fiordland National Park. Journey along the Milford Road, renowned as one of the world’s finest alpine drives, before boarding the Milford Mariner. View the cascading waterfalls, sheer cliffs, dense rainforest and towering mountains of this World Heritage-listed area. After reaching the open sea return and anchor for the night. Finally, there is an option to venture in the Mariner’s kayaks. (BFD)

Day 16: Milford Sound - Dunedin
Depart Milford Sound for Dunedin. Tonight enjoy dinner along with a Scottish evening complete with bagpipes, kilts and haggis at your hotel. (FBFD)

Day 17: Dunedin
This morning we enjoy a city sightseeing tour of Dunedin before visiting Larnach Castle, New Zealand’s only castle. The remainder of today is at leisure in Dunedin, the ‘Edinburgh of the south’. (B)

Day 18: Dunedin - Olveston House - Lake Oahu
Visit Olveston House with its extensive collection of antiques and paintings. Travel north along the coast to view the unique and fascinating Moeraki Beach boulders. Stop at Oamaru, a town renowned for its distinctive limestone architecture. Pass massive hydro-electric dams and glacier-fed lakes on the way to the pretty settlement of Lake Oahu. This evening enjoy a High Country Hospitality dinner. (BFD)

Day 19. Lake Oahu - Mount Cook - Christchurch
Start your final day viewing Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest mountain. Continue to beautiful Lake Tekapo and visit the tiny, picturesque stone-built Church of the Good Shepherd. Travel the vast Canterbury Plains to Christchurch where the tour concludes. A departure transfer to the airport is included. (B)
