Day 1: Arrive Calgary
On arrival into Calgary International Airport make your own way to the Alamo rental depot before driving to your downtown hotel. Upon check-in you will receive a personalised driving kit. The rest of the day is free to enjoy the attractions of Calgary.

Days 2 & 3: Calgary – Banff
Leaving Calgary behind, set your sights on the magnificent Rocky Mountains before arriving at the bustling town of Banff. Banff National Park is a stunning wilderness and your outdoor playground for the next two days. Enjoy a gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain (not included) or hike along one of the groomed trails. On day three, perhaps saddle up for a leisurely horseback ride along the base of Sulphur Mountain (optional). Surrounded by the serenity of the park, take in the spectacular views of the jagged peaks and ancient glaciers. (80 miles)

Day 4: Banff – Lake Louise
Travel through the Bow Valley today to get to beautiful Lake Louise. Lake Louise is the acclaimed ‘Jewel of the Rockies’ and said to be Canada’s most photographed lake. With the Victoria Glacier in the background, this emerald-coloured lake is sure to leave an indelible impression. (46 miles)

Days 5 & 6: Lake Louise – Jasper
Drive to Jasper via the spectacular Icefields Parkway, one of the most scenic routes in the world. At the Columbia Icefield, take a ‘Snocoach’ ride (not included) onto the massive glacier and experience the thrill of walking on centuries-old glacial ice. Continue to the perfectly situated resort town of Jasper and, tomorrow, challenge one of Canada’s most famous rivers, the Athabasca. Guided by experienced rafters, board a raft for a unique three-hour gentle introduction to whitewater rafting (optional). (142 miles)

Day 7: Jasper – Wells Gray Park
Drive through the mountains to Wells Gray Provincial Park. View mineral springs, lakes, dormant volcanoes and the impressive Helmcken Falls. (273 miles)

Days 8 & 9: Wells Gray Park – Gold Bridge
Today, make your way to the largest log lodge in the West, Tyax Mountain Lake Resort. Offering amazing recreation opportunities, you can choose from a wide selection of activities to create an exciting and fun-filled day (see page 54 for further details). (217 miles)

Day 10: Gold Bridge – Whistler
Start early today to allow yourself as much time as possible in the premier resort town of Whistler. Upon arrival relax in the pedestrian village, enjoy the boutiques, restaurants and cafés or take part in one of the many outdoor activities available. (80 miles)

Day 11: Whistler – Pacific Rim National Park
Travel the Sea-to-Sky Highway through a landscape carved out by glaciers and edged by craggy fjords. Take the ferry across to Vancouver Island and drive to the Pacific Rim National Park to marvel at its windswept beaches and dense rainforests. (192 miles, not including ferry crossing)

Day 12: Pacific Rim National Park
Take to the water for a whale watching expedition as you search for grey whales, sea lions and puffins (optional). Back on shore you are free to explore the rugged coastline along the network of hiking trails.
Day 13: Pacific Rim National Park – Victoria
Today, the coastal road you will be following will wind through quaint seaside towns as you make your way to Victoria, the beautiful capital of British Columbia. This wonderful city is fascinating and still manages to retain much of its British colonial heritage. (200 miles)

Day 14: Victoria – Vancouver
Make your way back to the mainland on a mini-cruise aboard B.C. Ferries, which guides you around the many Gulf Islands and through the Strait of Georgia. The remainder of the day is at leisure to enjoy the many stores, beautiful parks and other attractions of Vancouver. (43 miles)

Day 15: Vancouver
Free day in Vancouver. Perhaps enjoy a visit to the Capilano Suspension Bridge & Park, voted the city’s most popular visitor attraction (optional).
Day 16: Vancouver Departure
Return your Alamo car to the depot by the same time you picked it up on day one to avoid additional charges.
