Day 1: Arrival in Halifax
On arrival at Halifax International Airport make your way to the Alamo car depot to pick up your hire car before making your way to your downtown hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 2: Halifax
One of the world’s largest natural harbours, Halifax has a proud maritime heritage, seen in its museums and restored historic buildings. Today, take a sightseeing tour or harbour cruise (optional).
Day 3: Halifax – Western Shore
Drive along the Lighthouse Route to the picturesque fishing community of Peggy’s Cove, surrounded by bare granite and coastal barrens with trails leading to its famous lighthouse. Continue along the coast and discover Nova Scotia’s hidden treasures. (85 miles)

Day 4: Western Shore – Digby
Today, stop at the Fisheries Museum in the port of Lunenburg. Take the cross-country drive linking the rocky southern shore with the lush Annapolis Valley. Enjoy amazing views of extensive woodlands, lakes and the wilderness of Kejimkujik National Park. (100 miles)

Day 5: Digby
Today is at leisure in this picture-postcard fishing port with its bustling harbour. Digby is Nova Scotia’s most popular summer resort. Drive to the province’s westernmost point, Brier Island, for an exciting whale and seabird cruise on the Bay of Fundy (optional).
Day 6: Digby – Truro
Admire the world-famous Bay of Fundy, where the vertical range between high and low tide can be as much as 15m. Travel through this beautiful stretch of land, visiting historic landmarks en route to Truro. (185 miles)

Day 7: Truro – Charlottetown
Make your way to Pictou, ‘Birthplace of New Scotland’, and explore Hector Heritage Quay where the first Scottish settlers arrived in 1773. Take the ferry across the Northumberland Strait to attractive Prince Edward Island, Canada’s smallest province, with its rolling countryside. Arrive in charming Charlottetown, ‘Cradle of Canada’s Confederation.’ (CB) (80 miles)

Day 8: Charlottetown
Explore Charlottetown’s Victorian homes, elegant squares and harbour. The island’s commercial centre, it still manages to evoke the feeling of a colonial seaport. Enjoy a tour to the Green Gables farmhouse, Prince Edward Island National Park and the authentic Acadian fishing village of North Rustico (optional).
Day 9: Charlottetown – Antigonish
Return to Nova Scotia and take the North Shore Drive through tranquil scenery and communities that still celebrate Nova Scotia’s Scottish and Acadian identities. Continue to Antigonish for the night. (100 miles)

Day 10: Antigonish – Cape Breton Highlands
Drive along the magnificent north shore of Cape Breton Island. The Cabot Trail runs into the highlands, past lochs and glens and along scenic coastlines. (175 miles)

Day 11: Cape Breton Highlands – Sydney
Continue on the Cabot Trail, passing charming maritime communities including St. Ann’s, home of the Nova Scotia Gaelic College of Arts and Culture, the only one of its kind in Canada. (91 miles)

Day 12: Sydney
Today, explore the historic city of Sydney, originally known as Spanish Bay. Visit Bras d’Or Lake, one of the world’s best sailing and boating venues and the delightful community of Baddeck.

Day 13: Sydney – Liscombe Mills
Discover eastern Cape Breton as you travel around the great inland sea of Bras d’Or Lake. The Fortress of Louisburg is one of the most significant historic locations in North America. Enjoy demonstrations by costumed staff and sample 18th-century cuisine before continuing on the scenic Marine Drive. (170 miles)

Day 14: Liscombe Mills – Halifax
Follow the Marine Drive back to Halifax Airport and return your hire car in time for your onward flight. Your car has been reserved until tomorrow, so please ask for details if you would like to spend another night in Halifax. (110 miles)
