2 Day Lantau Island

Day 1: Hong Kong – Lantau Island:
You will be picked up from your Hong Kong hotel and transferred to the Outlying Islands ferry pier in the Central District on Hong Kong Island. Board the double decker ferry for a scenic cruise to Silvermine Bay (Mui Wo) on Lantau Island. Ferries depart every two hours throughout the day and early evening and the journey takes about an hour. Upon arrival, walk the short distance to the Silvermine Bay Hotel. One of the hotel’s bell boys will carry your luggage while you walk along the waterfront. Silvermine Bay Hotel is the only deluxe resort hotel on Lantau and has great views of the beach and the sea. Split into two wings separated by manicured lawns, the hotel offers 128 air-conditioned guestrooms. All are equipped with satellite TV, personal safe, minibar, hairdryer and iron and ironing board. Recreation facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, gym and sauna and steam rooms. Guests can dine at either the alfresco Terrace Cafe or the restaurant, which specialises in Asian and Cantonese dishes. The rest of your day is at leisure to relax on the beach or explore some of the many walking trails on Lantau.

Day 2: Po Lin Monastery Tour:
Make your own way to McDonald’s Restaurant (close to the hotel) where you will be picked up for your tour to the famous Po Lin Monastery and the largest Buddha on Lantau Island, which stands 34 metres high. Po Lin Monastery was built in 1924 and is the most important among the four principal monasteries in Hong Kong. During the tour, a vegetarian Chinese lunch will be served. You return back to Mui Wo at approximately 4pm. Return ferries depart every two hours back to the pier on Hong Kong Island where you can either pre-book a transfer back to your hotel (at additional cost) or take a taxi. (BL)
