The renowned luxury hotel group Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is synonynmous with China. Each hotel differs in style and facilities but Asian hospitality, luxurious guestrooms, discreet service and attention to detail are common to all. This exciting tour combines some of their most popular properties, in six exciting cities, and is ideal for first time visitors to China or those who want to re-aquaint themselves with the charm, history and architecture China has to offer.

Day 1: Arrive Beijing
On arrival in Beijing transfer to Shangri-La Beijing – a peaceful oasis close to the heart of the city for your two night stay and enjoy the rest of your day at leisure. Weather permitting, perhaps enjoy a relaxing dinner taken outside close to the Koi carp ponds in their Terrace Garden restaurant.

Day 2: Great Wall and Summer Palace
Enjoy a full day tour out to the Great Wall at Badaling before returning to the city to explore the fascinating Summer Palace and its picturesque grounds. Throughout the year locals practice their calligraphy and Tai Chi skills or challenge each other to a leisurely game of chess. One suggestion for the evening is to enjoy a delicious Peking duck dinner in town or at the Shangri-La's renowned Shang Palace Chinese restaurant. (BL)

Day 3: Beijing sightseeing - Shanghai
Spend the morning exploring the incredible sites of the Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven before your flight to the huge modern metropolis of Shanghai and one of the jewels in Shangri-La’s crown – the Pudong Shangri-La. This is one of the most popular hotels in the city with enviable views from many guestrooms across the river to the magnificent Bund and to the space age Pearl TV Tower. A stay at Pudong Shangri-La is not complete without a visit to the magnificent Chi Spa to sample one or more of their incredible Tibetan therapies. (B)

Day 4: Shanghai city tour
Start your tour at one of the most famous Buddhist temples in southern China, the Jade Buddha before continuing on to the Yu Yuan Gardens, built in 1559. Enjoy a dim sum lunch at a local teahouse before exploring the narrow streets of the Old Town and finally strolling along the Bund. The Bund is now home to some of China's trendiest bars and restaurants and the area takes on a totally different atmosphere during the evening. (BL)

Day 5: Shanghai - Suzhou
Depart for Suzhou to check-in at Shangri-La’s newest hotel opened in July 2006. Located between the 28th – 51st floors of one of the tallest buildings in Jiangsu Province, the Shangri-La Hotel, Suzhou boasts excellent views from its 390 spacious and tastefully designed guestrooms. Make the most of the exciting range of restaurants and the comprehensive recreational facilities including a Health Club and Spa. In the afternoon tour two of Suzhou’s most impressive gardens – Garden of the Master of Nets and the Humble Administrators Garden. There may also be time to visit the Silk Factory - Suzhou is renowned for the quality of its silk production. (BL)

Day 6: Suzhou - Hangzhou
Transfer from Suzhou to Hangzhou, famed for its beauty and set on the shores of West Lake. This ancient capital has long vied with Suzhou for the title of most beautiful city in China as it was a favourite holiday destination of emperors and Chinese nobility. Check in to Shangri-La Hangzhou, built in the traditional style of the area and set within 40 acres of landscaped gardens. Spend the rest of the day exploring the city and lake at leisure. Tonight, perhaps try Peppino’s, Shangri-La’s Italian restaurant recognised as the city’s premier. (BL)

Day 7: Hangzhou - Xian
Depart Hangzhou for your flight to Xian at the start of the Silk Road. On arrival check into Shangri-La Golden Flower just outside the city walls and spend the rest of the day touring the city walls and Bell Tower. (BL)

Day 8: Xian City tour & Terracotta Warriors
Visit the incredible Terracotta Army, numbering over 8000 figures of warriors and horses each over 2000 years old. Discovered as late as the 1970’s the warriors have been beautifully preserved. Return back to Xian city to explore the unique Muslim quarter and its centre-piece – the Grand Mosque. Finish your tour at the delightful Big Wild Goose Pagoda before returning to your Shangri-la Hotel. (B)

Day 9: Xian - Hong Kong
Spend the morning at leisure until your transfer to Xian airport and your flight to the incredible city of Hong Kong. The afternoon is yours to explore or relax as you wish. (B)

Day 10: Hong Kong day tour
Enjoy a spectacular morning tour of Hong Kong Island starting with the magnificent views across to Kowloon from Victoria Peak. On a clear day you can see the New Territories. Continue on to the ex-pat enclave of Repulse Bay and the old fishing port of Aberdeen where life has changed little in the last few decades. The tours ends with a visit to Stanley market before your transfer back to Kowloon Shangri-la. The shopping possibilities in Hong Kong are endless but be sure not to miss a meal at Kowloon Shangri-La’s trend setting Café Kool. (B)

Day 11: Depart Hong Kong
At leisure until your return transfer to the airport. (B)
