6 Day Garden Route & Cape Winelands

Day 1: Cape Town – Montagu
Depart Cape Town and head towards the scenic Cape Winelands. Visit the Stellenbosch Museum and enjoy some wine tasting and a short walk around the area before continuing on to Worcester, quaint Robertson and finally Montagu.
Accommodation: Overnight: Montagu Country Inn or similar

Day 2: Montagu – Oudtshoorn
After breakfast, watch the scenery change as you travel to Oudtshoorn, passing through Barrydale, Ladismith and Calitzdorp. Lunch will be at an ostrich show farm where you will also have a guided tour. Later visit the world-famous Cango Caves before settling into your guest house for an overnight stay. (BL)

Day 3: Oudtshoorn – Knysna
Travel over the stunning Outeniqua Pass to George, before boarding the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe for a steam train trip to Sedgefield. On arrival, you will be transferred by minibus to Knysna, then board the ferry to the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Enjoy a trailer ride to the top of the Western Head and walk back through the Milkwood trees for lunch, before returning to Knysna. (BL)

Day 4: Knysna
This morning, you’ll see some of the most beautiful parts of the Garden Route as you drive to Nature’s Valley and the Tsitsikamma Forest. Return via Plettenberg Bay to Knysna. (B)

Day 5: Knysna – Hermanus
Today, begin the first leg of the return journey. Travel via George and Mossel Bay to the picturesque Cape Dutch town of Swellendam and on to Hermanus, famous as one of the world’s best places for shore-based whale viewing from June-November. (BL)

Day 6: Hermanus – Cape Town
Depart Hermanus and travel along the coastal road to Somerset West where you’ll stop for lunch at a wine farm (from your own account). Continue on to Cape Town where your tour ends on arrival late afternoon. (B)
