Durban to Durban
Day 1: Durban – Drakensberg:
Collect your Avis hire car and head for the magnificent mountains of the Drakensberg. We offer two very different hotels as a base for the next two nights. (D)
Accommodation: Standard: Drakensberg Sun Hotel (225kms from Durban), Deluxe: Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse (195kms from Durban)
Day 2: Drakensberg:
Spend today exploring the beauty of the region. The area is conducive to outdoor activities and has plenty of walking, biking and riding trails as well as lakes for keen fishers. (B/BD)

Day 3: Drakensberg – Babanango Valley:
Travel north to Babanango Valley Lodge with the scenery changing from majestic mountains to the rolling hills of the battlefields. Close to many of the major battlefields, the Lodge is surrounded by its own nature reserve. (BD) (185kms/255kms)

Day 4: Babanango Valley:
Today you are free to explore the area at leisure or opt for one of the superb guided tours. Babanango Valley Lodge is world renowned for their atmospheric tours of the battlefields. (BD)

Day 5: Babanango Valley – Durban:
Head southwards towards Melmoth, from where a detour to Ulundi – the final battle between the British and the Zulus – can easily be made. From here travel to Eshowe and then follow the coastal road to Durban. Your hire car is booked until the following day (5 days car hire) but must be returned no later than the time it was picked up on Day 1. (310kms)
