8 Day Highlights of Namibia
8 day escorted tour, Windhoek to Windhoek
Tour HN
To this day, Namibia encompasses magnificent and unspoiled wilderness areas – some unique to the African continent. To blend the classical highlights of this largely arid country with its hidden and remote hinterland requires flexibility and a sense of adventure. The 8 Day Higlights of Namibia travels from the dunes of the Namib to the rugged terrain of Damaraland where the desert-adapted elephant and rhino have found a refuge. The key to the success of this diverse journey is found in the small, personalised group size of a maximum of nine. This tour is a must for wildlife, desert and dune enthusiasts.
Highlights include:
• The world’s oldest and most awe-inspiring sand dunes at Sossusvlei
• Explore the pristine wilderness of Damaraland, Cape Cross, Brandburg and the ancient desert plant Welwitschia Mirabilis
• Track desert elephant and rhino in the Etosha National Park

Day 1: Windhoek - Sesriem
This morning you will be collected from your Windhoek accommodation in a microbus catering for a maximum of 9 guests. You will then experience the ever-changing landscapes, as the terrain becomes more arid as you continue into the pro-Namib, before arriving at the Desert Homestead, your accommodation for the next two nights. Relax for the rest of the afternoon. (D)

Day 2: Sesriem
Today you are taken to the famous Sossusvlei, a clay pan surrounded by some of the highest sand dunes in the world. Explore the impressive conglomerate gorges of the Sesriem Canyon, with its rock pools fed by the Tsauchab, the same river that feeds Sossusvlei during the rainy season. (BD)
Accommodation: Overnight: Desert Homestead
Day 3: Sesriem - Swakopmund
After breakfast your destination today is the coastal town of Swakopmund. The route passes through the Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons and what are known as the "gramadoelas" (Bad Lands). Visit the vast gravel plains of the Namib and Namibia’s most celebrated plant, the Welwitschia Mirabilis, as well as the Moon valley, offering an unusual view overlooking the landscape formed by the valleys of the Swakop River. Days 5 & 6: Swakopmund - Etosha
Today’s journey takes you to the foothills of the Grootberg, in the heart of Damaraland, and the Etendeka concession. Due to the rugged terrain, you will switch to the camp’s own vehicles for the final part of the trip. Accommodation at Etendeka is in shaded safari tents. (BD)

Day 7: Etosha - Okahandja
You return south through Outjo and Otjiwarongo to the town of Okahandja.
