This area in the heart of the Chobe National Park pulses to a timeless rhythm of mysterious wet and dry cycles that determine its landscape and inhabitants.

For the moment this relic marsh, know as Savute, is dry. Here, peering out from ancient Camelthorn trees, lies Savute Safari Lodge, with just 12 twin-bedded suites. These thatched suites, crafted from timber and glass, with en suite facilities and private wooden decks, offer luxury and comfort without detracting from your wilderness experience. The lounge, library and cocktail bar are elegantly decorated, while the lodge also has a swimming pool and shaded viewing deck where afternoon tea is served and you can be mesmerised by Savute’s sunsets.

The dry season (Apr-Oct) concentrates Savute’s resident elephants, lion prides and antelope around half-empty pans and permanent waterholes. The summer rains (Nov-Mar) bring a feast for the predators as thousands of migrating zebra and wildebeest assemble on the dry marsh. Experience this in 4WD safari vehicles and see ancient San Tribe rock paintings in the Gubatsa Hills.
