Mahé
The central hub and international gateway, Mahé is home to the country’s quaint capital of Victoria and 90 per cent of the population. Mahé has a variety of secluded beaches that are worth exploring especially in the south where they are quieter and prettier. There are also some fantastic bays to snorkel around on the east coast.
Praslin
A 15-minute flight from Mahé takes you over a palm-fringed coastline of craggy rock formations, punctuated by chalk-white beaches. Praslin is famed for Vallée de Mai, which has the highest concentration of Coco de Mer palms. This valley’s prehistoric forest is World Heritage listed and is home to the Seychelles’ rare black parrot; found only on Praslin. Another gem is Anse Lazio, one of the best beaches in the Seychelles, where the water is a magical turquoise colour ideal for snorkelling.
