The six states of New England are the most historic in the nation, from the early settlements of the Pilgrim Fathers to their celebrated role as the birthplace of American independence. With its picturesque village greens and whitewashed churches, the region has become famous as one of the best places in the world to view the changing colours of autumn, but with gorgeous beaches and first-class ski resorts, New England makes a great holiday choice throughout the year. Boston is the main gateway, and its citybreak attractions shouldn't be missed, but do make time to venture further, as the relatively short distances between major points of interest make New England absolutely ideal for touring.

Massachusetts
Home to many fantastic destinations, including Cape Cod with its fantastic beaches, pine-studded sand dunes and colourful fishing ports. A ferry trip to the exclusive islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket are highly recommended, as are trips to the pretty towns of Chatham, Falmouth and the sleepy town of Sandwich. Williamstown, situated at the end of the scenic Mohawk Trail, is known as the region’s premier art destination and is an essential ingredient in any tour of the Berkshires.

Rhode Island
America’s smallest state is steeped in history, wealth and charm. Like much of New England, Rhode Island is notable for the great variety of its natural beauty, cultural offerings, and social history. The yachting capital of Newport is a superb beach destination boasting old colonial buildings and extravagant summer mansions.

Vermont
Vermont represents the quintessential New England of village greens, whitewashed churches and covered bridges, which come together perfectly in the town of Woodstock. Our chosen resorts of Manchester and Stowe have much to offer visitors year-round.

New Hampshire
From the magnificent White Mountains in the north through the Lakes Region to the state’s strip of Atlantic seacoast, the Granite State is a vacationland of rugged outdoor adventure and urban charm. New Hampshire offers an irresistible mix of picture-postcard villages, lakefront resorts such as Meredith plus superb scenery and winter skiing in the extensive White Mountains.

Maine
Characterised by a rugged coastline and a lake-studded and forested interior. The coastline is sprinkled with lighthouses that send out their beacons and mournful hoots for mariners. The northern and inner regions welcome whitewater rafters, skiers, snowmobilers, hunters, and fisherman. Kennebunkport is a charming yachting centre whilst lovely Bar Harbor serves as the gateway for the stunning Acadia National Park.

Connecticut
Connecticut, an easy drive from New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and eastern Pennsylvania for day and weekend trips, is the picturesque gateway to New England southernmost state. Connecticut is home to renowned Yale University. Relatively small in size but large in stature, it is a graceful and scenic state.
