Australia Rail Travel
The best way to appreciate Australia and its beauty is by train, and this vast country hides something new around every corner. The famous Indian Pacific crosses the great Nullarbor Plain linking Sydney, Adelaide and Perth, and a visit to the red centre presents Ayers Rock in all its glory.
Queensland's Coast
Travelling along Queensland's stunning coast, the Sunlander makes the 32-hour journey from Brisbane and Cairns three times weekly, and features two types of accommodation. Standard class offers a choice of seats and single, double and triple berth sleepers with meals available for purchase in the club or buffet cars. For extra comfort, we recommend upgrading to Queenslander Class, which offers twin-berth cabins which convert into sofa seating during the day, and is inclusive of fine dining three-course meals served in the exclusive restaurant carriage. Covering the same route, the Tilt Train is modern, convenient and ideal for shorter journeys to places like Hervey Bay (gateway for Fraser Island) or Proserpine (gateway for the beautiful Whitsundays).

The Overland
The Overland journeys between Adelaide and Melbourne during daylight hours, operating both ways three times a week. Travel past diverse landscapes, from rugged scrubland, to vast open plains and through gently rolling hills. The route was inspired by the ‘Overlanders’ who made this journey by horseback until 1887, when the train line was first pioneered. On board choose between Red Service, offering comfortable recliner seats or Red Premium Service with only 36 seats per carriage offering plenty of leg room and wider aisles allowing an at-seat trolley service (for purchase). Complimentary water is provided on departure in the Red Premium Service while all guests can access the sociable Café Carriage. The Overland links up with both The Ghan and the Indian Pacific in Adelaide.

The XPT
Introduced in 1982, the XPT is short for ‘Express Passenger Train’ and travels the route between the big east coast cities of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. There's plenty of opportunity to break your journey en-route. When travelling from Melbourne to Sydney, you can stop at Albury to explore the Rutherglen wineries, and when travelling from Sydney to Brisbane you can stop off in picturesque coastal resorts such as Coffs Harbour or Byron Bay. Combine your XPT journey with the XPLORER services and you can even visit the nation's capital, Canberra. Choose from an economy or first class seat, or for overnight journeys twin berths are available. A buffet car serves hot and cold food and drinks.
