Terms & Conditions

Driver Qualifications: All drivers must be 21 years or older and in possession of a full and current driving licence. Drivers aged 75+ require a medical certificate. Foreign licences must be accompanied by an international driving permit, complete with English translation.

Rental Period: Prices are calculated on a ‘per calendar day’ basis. The minimum rental period is 5 days. All one-way hires are subject to a minimum 7 day rental. During peak season (15Dec11-05Jan12), the minimum rental period is 7 days (or 10 days on the 4, 5 and 6- berth vehicles). No refund applies for the late pick-up or early return of your vehicle, and unauthorised extensions are subject to a daily fee of $150 in addition to the applicable daily rate.

Cleaning Fee: Vehicles returned excessively dirty are subject to a charge of $220.

Multiple Rentals: If you rent more than one vehicle during a three-month period, you can use the cumulative rental days to determine the rate payable.

Drop-Off Locations: Approval must be sought from Britz should you wish to change your drop-off destination and, if approved, may be subject to an additional fee (max. $700).

Campervans can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads. The only exceptions to this are well-maintained access roads of less than twelve kilometres to recognised campgrounds and well-maintained, recognised roads on Kangaroo Island (South Australia) – please enquire for 4WD vehicles.

Inclusions (from 01Apr10*)

• Vehicle Insurance: This is subject to an excess – but can be reduced on payment of an excess reduction fee.
• Goods & Services Tax (GST)
• Unlimited Kilometres & Extra Driver Fees.
• Kitchen & General Equipment: Includes cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery and cleaning equipment.
• Linen & Bedding: Includes one pillow, pillowcase, sleeping bag, sheet and towel per person.
• Travel Wallet: Includes map, driving tips & voucher or 10% discount on powered sites at 'BIG4' holiday parks.

Rental Exclusions (from 01Apr10*)

• Excess & Security Deposit: Your maximum liability for damage to the vehicle or third party is $7,500 per claim. A security deposit for the full amount of the excess is payable (by credit card only), and is subject to an administration fee of 2% (Visa/MasterCard). The security deposit is debited at the start of your rental, and refunded should no damage occur.
• Excess Reduction Fees: Two options are available for purchase locally, please see page 18 for important details and prices.
• Insurance Exclusions: All insurance will be void if certain terms are breached, including (but not limited to) water-related damage; single vehicle roll-over; damage to the overhead and underbody sections of the vehicle (except when purchasing the Maui Premium Package or Excess Reduction Option Two); or driving whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• One-Way Fees: One-way rentals are available between all Britz branches, except on 4WD vehicles into/out of Tasmania, which are on request. A fee of $250 applies for rentals between Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart or Adelaide. A fee of $350 applies where pick-up and/or drop-off location is Darwin, Alice Springs, Broome or Perth.
• Remote Location Fees: A fee of $650 per rental is payable to/from Broome, in addition to any applicable one-way fees.
• Airport Concession Fees: Rentals to/from Hobart Airport are subject to a one-off charge of $16.50.
• Administration Fee: 3% surcharge applies on vehicle collection.
• Repairs: Repairs costs over $200, unless authorised.
• Optional Extras: The following may be hired for the duration of your rental, should be requested at time of booking, and are payable locally – picnic table ($22), picnic chair ($15), four-person tent ($65), first-aid kit ($30), baby/booster seat ($25), cooking gas ($25/$35), GPS system ($9 per day, max. $90), cool box ($22).
